As I sit at my computer
Slowly decaying from the inside out,
I turn around to see our neighbors, the Simpsons,
Sitting on my couch
Watching Matt Groening’s name flash across my TV.
Suddenly a red and gold streak flashes outside my window,
Then a circular shield of red, white, and blue
And the war cries of one thousand Wakandans.
Then, from above the fighting of humans and Chitauri,
Flew an X-Wing fighter and a fleet of TIE fighters in hot pursuit.
“I have a bad feeling about this.”
Then to my right I overhear
A blue genie telling a lion cub what it’s like to be a king,
And a short green cyclops cooing a small alien baby,
Sharply watched by a tall silent bounty hunter in silver armor.
But from my bedroom come the marching of hundreds of toy army men
Headed by a cowboy and a space ranger.
Above all the commotion in my house,
A small fish talks with two cops,
A rabbit and a fox,
As a snowman and an ice queen corroborate as witnesses.
In the blink of an eye the commotion suddenly dies out,
And I find myself alone in my house once again.
We may be quarantined indefinitely,
But thank God for Disney+.
